Itinerary
This adventure begins and ends at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
DAY 1: Arusha
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by a member of the &Beyond team, who will drive you to your lodge.
An attractive little town situated beneath the towering peaks of Mt Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro, Arusha is renowned as the safari capital of Tanzania, and offers a plethora of attractions and adventures. The town has numerous first class restaurants, bars and markets to browse, and is the ideal place to spend a few relaxing days before embarking on a safari.
Relax for the night in a chalet at Lake Duluti Lodge. Your stay includes breakfast.
DAY 2: Serengeti National Park
You will be driven to Arusha Airport, where you will board a flight to Seronera Airstrip. Your professional walking guide will be waiting for you on arrival.
The Serengeti National Park, meaning ‘endless plains’ in the Maasai language, is one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas. Tanzania’s oldest game reserve, it is renowned as the site of the annual Great Migration, when an estimated three million wildebeest and other antelope move between it and Kenya’s Masai Mara. The Serengeti is also home to the historic Olduvai Gorge and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater.
Leaving the established game viewing tracks, you will head off-road into the wilderness walking areas. The drive to the camp, off-road through the wilderness, is two to three hours, with a bush picnic en route. Once in camp, you will go for a later afternoon orientation walk.
Spend three nights in a domed sleeping tent at the walking camp. Your stay includes meals, soft drinks, house wines during evening meals and drinking water.
Each morning you will enjoy an early breakfast before embarking on a full day of walking. You will move slowly, resting under a cool overhang or the spreading branches of a fig tree, getting an up close and personal view of the African bush and unlocking all your senses. You will return to the camp before dusk.
Day 5 – 6: Ngorongoro Crater
Set out on an early morning walk and indulge in a sumptuous bush breakfast before being driven back to the airstrip, from where you will be flown to Manyara Airstrip. A member of the &Beyond team will be waiting to drive you to your lodge.
The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area is home to more than 30 000 protected animals. The Ngorongoro Crater, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. Black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephant wander the forests, black-maned lion stalk the grasslands and flamingo crowd the soda lakes.
Indulge in two nights in a suite at &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Your stay includes three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, laundry and a daily game drive on the Crater floor. Additional adventures to the Olduvai Gorge or Shifting Sands, as well as a visit to a traditional Maasai village and walks around Empakaai Crater may be booked at an extra cost.
DAY 7: Departure
Return to Manyara Airstrip, where you will board a flight to Manyara Airstrip. On landing, you will be met by a member of the &Beyond team, who will drive you to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your adventure with us will end.
