Itinerary
This adventure beings at Kilimanjaro International Airport and ends at Dar es Salaam International Airport in Tanzania.
DAY 1 – 2: Lake Manyarra National Park
On arrival at Kilimanjaro National Airport you will be warmly welcomed by a member of the &Beyond team, who will drive you to Arusha Airport, where you will be assisted onto a small aircraft for a flight to Manyara Airstrip. A vehicle will be waiting to take you to your lodge.
Lake Manyara National Park offers a wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Apart from a spectacular setting, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lion and the vast elephant herds it was established to protect. The shores of the lake, encrusted with pink flamingo, attract more than 400 species of birds. Large herds of buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe and impala roam the lake shores and forested valley slopes. The park also features a ground-water forest, acacia tortilis woodland and the Maji Moto Hot Springs.
Enjoy two nights in a stable cottage at The Manor at Ngorongoro. Your stay includes all drinks (excluding champagne, exclusive cellar wines, cognacs, single malt whiskey and cigars), laundry, private dining, full butler service, game drives in Lake Manyara National Park and on the Ngorongoro Crater floor, as well as transfers to and from Manyara Airstrip.
DAY 3 – 4: Serengeti National Park
You will be driven back to Manyara Airstrip, where you will board a flight to Sasakwa Airstrip, where a vehicle will be waiting to take you to your lodge.
The Serengeti National Park, meaning ‘endless plains’ in the Maasai language is one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas. Tanzania’s oldest game reserve, it it renowned as the site of the annual Great Migration, when an estimated three million wildebeest and other antelope move between it and Kenya’s Masai Mara. The Serengeti National Park is also home to the Olduvai Gorge, where groundbreaking archaeological discoveries have been made, as well as the Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site.
Relax for two nights in a family at Singita Faru Faru. Your stay includes breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, teas, coffees, two open Land Rover safaris per day (accompanied by experienced guides), all drinks (including premium wines, spirits and liqueurs but excluding champagnes) and return transport from the Sasakwa Airstrip.
DAY 5: Dar es Salaam
Return to Sasakwa Airstrip for a flight to Dar es Salaam International Airport. You will be welcomed by a member of the &Beyond team, who will drive you to your hotel.
Despite its name, which means “abode of peace” in Arabic, Dar es Salaam is Tanzania’s largest and busiest city. Situated right on the Indian Ocean, it is the ideal place from which to access both the wilderness areas and the beaches of Tanzania and Zanzibar. Most visitors en route to the better-known Tanzanian attractions are surprised by the charm of this unassuming city. Attractions include the beautiful beaches of Kunduchi, Mjimwena and Mbwa Maji, Dar es Salaam’s spectacular harbour and the local markets.
Spend the night in a luxury suite at The Oyster Bay. Your stay is on a fully inclusive basis.
DAY 6 – 8: Selous Game Reserve
You will be driven back to Dar es Salaam International Airport, where you will board a flight to the Selous Game Reserve. A vehicle will be waiting to take you to your lodge.
Secluded and off the beaten track, the Selous Game Reserve is a slice of untamed wilderness, teeming with a spectacular array of fauna and flora. Its dramatic landscapes and great diversity of wildlife earned it its World Heritage Site status. The Selous is one of the few big game reserve to allow hiking, offering the chance to explore its pristine landscapes on foot.
