TOURIST INFORMATION
How to get there
International flights serve Maputo and Beira. All other major tourist areas
can be linked by either charter
or scheduled flights. Mozambique is becoming a popular 4x4 self drive
destination. Border posts are
open daily from 07h00 to 19h00.
Health and entry requirements
All visitors require a valid passport and visa for entry into Mozambique.
Visa authorities must be
contacted well in advance. No inoculations are required at present but
anti-malaria tablets are
recommended. Drink bottled water only.
Clothing and climate
Lightweight clothing is suitable year-round. Sun protection and mosquito
repellents are strongly
advisable.
Currency
The local currency is the Mozambique Metical. Major credit cards are
accepted in most establishments.
US Dollar traveller cheques are advised. SA Rands are becoming increasingly
acceptable, especially
in the south.
