Djuma Game Reserve - A Luxury Safari Lodge in the Sabi Sands

Overview

Vuyatela – meaning, “come and visit again” – is an exclusive lodge that has broken the mould of traditional game lodges and is the pride of Djuma Game Reserve.

The cultural theme also runs through activities. After morning game-drive guests may accompany their Shangaan guide to his nearby village, where they will have the opportunity of interacting with his family and friends in a very authentic and contemporary African environment.

Djuma Vuyatela Lodge is an expression of modern South African culture. Each of the eight chalets or kayas is secluded in African bush. You will notice that each of the buildings that make-up your chalet, or “Kaya” (Shangaan word for house), is built in a different technique. Some of the “Kaya’s” have abstract patterns painted on the walls and others have even domestic scenes painted on them. The bedrooms look out onto teak decks, which end in private plunge pools.

Amenities include:

8 luxury suites made up of bedroom, dressing-room and bathroom with bath and outdoor shower, separate lounge, private deck and plunge pool. Air-conditioning, fans, mosquito nets, a telephone and bar fridge.

The main lodge includes a large double deck, outdoor dining, wine cellar, bar overlooking the watering hole, indigenous aquarium, suspended bird-watching tower.

Internet library with detailed wildlife websites, gym and relaxation room.

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and fresh bakes and dinner daily.

2 safaris (game drives) daily. A daily guided walk in the bush.

Djuma game Reserve also offer daily tours to a nearby Shangaan village, where you will learn about the customs and traditions of the local people who also work at Djuma Game Reserve.

Game Viewing

Djuma’s biggest draw-card is essentially the wild and untamed surrounds into which its guests can explore.

Djuma offers over 7000 hectares of exclusive traversing, bordering right onto the western border of the Kruger National Park. This part of the African Bush is a hidden gem, offering some of the finest game viewing anywhere in Africa. The ‘Big 5′ roams this unspoilt Eden, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo can be spotted from the comfort and safety of our open game drive vehicles, accompanied by some of the most experienced Rangers and Trackers.

Morning Game Drives

An early morning wake-up call will awaken you to the magic of an African sunrise. The bushveld surrounds will also be waking up for the day, or settling down for a laze in the shade after a hard night’s hunting. A tracker and qualified Ranger will take you through he reserve in specially designed game-drive vehicles, and do their utmost to deliver the finest game viewing oppurtunities.

Bush Walks

After a hearty breakfast, a bushwalk with one of our experienced rangers offers the oppurtunity to take a closer look at your wild surrouds. Discover unexpected surprises like a chameleon perched on a tree branch, or view the thousands of birds that roam Djuma’s skies.

Village Trips

Djuma is actively involved in the surrounding ocal communities of Utah and Dixie. Guests are offeed the oppurtunity to visit these neighbouring villages and gain insight into the rural South African way of life. From meeting the village elders to seeing the schools, the exuberance and enthusiasm of the villagers is often catching.

Evening Game Drives

Setting out into the bushveld as a huge Afian Sun starts to set is the perfect time to spot the dangerous predatos that prowl the Djuma lands. A qualified guide and tracker will be on hand to find any elusive creatures. Stopping for a sundowner, you’ll have the oppurtunity of enjoying a dramatic African sunset.
