Investing in Wild Rivers Nature Reserve
"Invest in an African Dream Lifestyle - Own your own piece of Wild Africa"
Wild Rivers Nature Reserve is situated on the confluence of the Blyde and Olifants Rivers in Hoedspruit, Northern Province, South Africa. The farm is extremely accessible being 10 kms north of Hoedspruit all on tarred roads. Eastgate Airport which offers daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town is a mere 20 minutes away. The farm also has its own airstrip.
Wild Rivers Nature Reserve is a unique 2,500 ha game farm. Truly a unique jewel of the Lowveld Unique in that it is most unusual to have two such diverse rivers running through a farm in the Lowveld; The Blyde River has sparkling clear waters and the Olifants River is the quintessence of the powerful brown African River, with the Drakensberg escarpment providing a magnificent backdrop.
The riverine forests are unique and of an ecologically sensitive nature. These riverine forests present the best preserved and largest braided riverine forest in the whole of the country. Although the riverine forest along the Blyde River mentioned can be described as one-of-a-kind, the only other similar forest is situated in the Kruger Park along the lower Sabie River and has been devastated by the floods of 2000 where tree cover has for all practical purposes been totally lost. Regrowth of these forests are exceedingly slow and is hampered by the burgeoning population of the elephants that Park authorities cannot adequately deal with at this point in time.
Due to the extremely small forest coverage of South Africa in general and a yet smaller coverage of riverine forest in particular, the unusually large tree, figs, leadwoods, essenhouts and the sensitivity of the ecosystems these forests uphold, it is fairly clear that they represent valuable fragments of our national forest heritage.
From an ecological point of view, the riverine environment provides a number of habitats to a wide diversity of fauna and flora. The large number of red data species with the Olifants and Blyde riverine environments providing a habitat for twelve and twenty-one red data species respectively. It is noteworthy that more than half of the red data species along both rivers is categorised as vulnerable.
Wild Rivers is part of a 12 000 ha Blyde-Olifants Conservancy which teems with plains game, leopard, hyena, kudu, giraffe, zebra and of course the rivers are well populate with hippo and crocodiles. Wild Rivers is also home to the rare Pels Fishing Owl and is a protective breeding site for Herons.
Offering only 31 residential sites for sale and one 16-bed commercial lodge site on this unique farm. The sites are sold on freehold title basis, and sensitively themed architectural controls are in place. Owners will be able to traverse the farm in game viewing vehicles. It is however the ability to freely walk this farm that will be so appealing to many. Wide open spaces, wild life, magnificent landscapes filled with rare and exciting vegetation. Wild Rivers truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for discerning individuals who appreciate the ideals of conserving unique environments.
